The Reservoir is Beautiful at Night...

Week 8...

Last night was a challenge, at first... we're adding on miles little by little. And no, the milege itself is not difficult - but i can't run with any music!! It's illegal during the final race to run with an ipod, walkman, or any source of music, so seriously, the hardest part of my training has been to WEEN myself off of my IPOD! Good news is I have quite the repetoire in my head - the entire RENT soundtrack, Big and Rich, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Love is a Battlefield - name it!

So last night, the run was a mile to the Reservoir, and a few times around - the whole equaling 3.5-5 or so miles. I'm still keeping an eye on my foot injury, so I only went 1x around the Reservoir track, but it was BEAUTIFUL - the city lights, the calm water, and only a few lamp-posts showing your way. It was really a treat. PLUS! During the summer I couldn't run a lap around the reservoir without stopping, and that's WITH music -- last night, i ran 2 miles to and from, and around without stopping - and NO MUSIC! An accomplishment, indeed.. no matter how small.

Tonight? TO THE POOL! We're doing the infamous "snake" drill - which means we basically all get in the pool at the same exact time to practice open-water swimming.

Should be interesting!
