To Disney World and Back... in 13.1 miles
Was with the family last weekend in Disney for the Disney 1/2 marathon (and full marathon, which my parents ran) -- i really didn't train for the race, and was pretty nervous that I wasn't going to make it -- but.. to the contrary, i felt really good out there! All this triathlon training has definitely improved my stamina and energy - and helped me get through a race mentally too (3 hours is a long time to spend by yourself... for the triathlon - i may be out there for up to 6 hours! alone!)
anyways -- i did a 3:11 half-marathon, and i'm proud. It made me feel more prepared for the BIG TRI!! i've already be training for 6 weeks! and the training sessions are getting harder -- this goal is daunting.
the GREAT thing was that it was a TEAM IN TRAINING national event -- the participation was AMAZING -- there were people in purple TNT gear all along the race-course -- even along the highways -- holding signs, and cheering people on -- it was incredible. Made me really feel like part of a TEAM - and i can't wait to see the crowds at St. A's!!!
Finally getting on the bike this Saturday... we'll see how that goes.
Meanwhile -- on the fundraising front - i'm pretty nervous. Letters are going out to my parents friends this week - but i'm really hoping for my own friends to pull through. SOme old buddies have come out of the wood-work -- but I NEED EVERYONE'S HELP!!!... if i don't fundraise enough, i can't compete :-(
so TRI HARD (get it?) to donate whenever you can!!
