On the Road Again... Here comes April!

It's been a while since I've written -- sorry to let down all of you "avid" readers out there.

My last post, i was sluggish and unmotivated -- questioning why i had decided to train for this silly triathlon anyways.

Well, training is definitely on the up-and-up. As are the temperatures outside!!! (last night's run in central park, it was 70 degrees! beautiful.)

I went to training last Tuesday reluctantly. I'd rather have been at home, frankly -- and the schlep to the west side, and back, is just no fun after a long day of work. I began to run, and immediately wanted to stop -- running alone is lonely and depressing -- you begin to doubt yourself, especially if you have no music, and nothing but the birds to keep you running. I sidled up to another girl who seemed to be struggling -- i ran next to her for a good portion of the run, and really started to feel GREAT -- first off, i would have really loved to have someone help me out last year, so i wanted to do just that...

I don't think she knew it, but that girl helped me run!! I couldn't stop, because i didn't want her to stop -- and I kept coaxing her along, helping her finish. I saw her at practice again last night, and i like to think she was a little bit inspired because i helped show her that she could do it. .. The fight won't be easy for her -- it'll be a real challenge for her to get to the NYC Triathlon finish line... but she'll make it. Hers will be nothing compared to the fight of a cancer patient -- and we all know that.

Along the way, while we were running, we ran (literally!) into another girl who was about our pace. Her name was Sam, and we started chatting, and hit it off -- i'm SO excited i met her -- it's nice to get to practice and have someone who's looking out for you -- someone who's there to run with, talk with, and finish with. We've me up ever since, and it's nice to have found a "niche" on a 400-member team. I couldn't be happier.

MORE BIG NEWS -- signed up for the NYC half-marathon AND MARATHON lotteries!!! will be upset if i don't get into the half-... don't know waht i'll do if i get into the marathon!!!

more to come. still have yet to bike, and really need to work on my kicking in swim sessions.
